Summing up Sunday

I'm listening to French radio right now, trying to improve my French. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I took Katherine's cue, and bought some paperwhites yesterday. I need to make sure I'm doing these correctly. I don't have much luck with plants. We'll see how these go. I tend to be a bit over enthusiastic about any project, so I bought about 15 bulbs, and now I want to make housewarming gifts for everyone. Oh, gosh. Let's not throw in the scrapbooks I need to make in twenty days, the cards I need to send out, the grad classes I need to sign up for, and the panic attack that is about to set in.

Off to make cards!

Woo hoo girfriend - you can do it. I promise, So easy.

Just fill the bowl with rocks (or what is your medium? it's only a little different if you use soil) but let's say you're using rocks, pebbles, etc.)

Just fill the bowl, place the bulbs so they are about half way in, you know, nice and nestled and then fill with water. Get it so that the bulbs are just barely touching the water or not even touching. Like I said, they could rot (though that has neve r happened to me). Then put in a bright or semi bright location.

Sometimes they say you need to vary the temp, or they need light or dark etc. but that is crazy. I just plop them in the rocks and put on my table and voila! they grow!

Did you get good bulbs? and like I said, the warmer your house, the faster they will grow.

hey Kristin be careful with the paperwhites - some people have horrible allergies to the pollen - I love the look but can't have them in the house because Bob reacts with headaches and others get congested -

If you are one to have holiday parties in your home better to not do them - amarylis are safer -

OK, yeah - our 40th birthdays . . . nice of you to bring this up . . .

I propose a year long sabbatical in preparation for the life stage - if we leave next December we can meet your .5 timeline - and this will give Bob and Duff time to plan the week long party and fly everyone in . . .

How about Vail? Or are you thinking more earthy Taos kinda fiesta - Europe? Eastern or Western? Anna is still in Singapore . . .

are we doing permanent tattoos this time or just henna?

Hmmm, that's interesting. I've never heard of anyone having allergies (and my husband is fairly sensitive). Even the books I've read don't mention anything about allergies.

monkey - well thanks for the info. No one I know has ever had a problem. And I've been growing them for years. But thanks again. I'm sure Kirsten appreciates it as well. Especially since she just bought 15 bulbs. ;)

Kirsten - if you enjoy forcing bulbs you should check out the book "Forcing, etc" I think it is published by Smith & Hawken. I blogged about it last year. Even if you don't enjoy bulbs it is a beautiful book. Full of beautiful pictures.

So, how was your weekend. Your readers would like to know.

How are the Daffodils coming along?
Having fresh flowers and color for the holidays is so very nice.
